Daytona Bike Week 2006
3/8 - 3/11
For those of you who missed the Daytona Bike Week-end Ride (which was just about all of you) You missed a great one. The weather was spectacular, warm and sunny days and cool, (needed a jacket to ride) nights. We got to Florida right on schedule on Thursday about 12:30 pm, checked in to our motel and headed for the Speedway. We got to watch qualifying for the 200 and both the Super Sport and Super Stock AMA road race events, which turned out to be photo finishes, and all for the bargain price of $30. Right after the Speedway races we rode to Daytona Municipal Stadium and grabbed excellent seats for the Grand National short track races. Again, some of the best head to head racing action I've seen. Friday brought us a free day to check Main Street and some vendor areas. As usual things were very crowded in town so we decided to make our visit there short. Friday afternoon we headed back to the Speedway for a night of motocross action and the Daytona Supercross. Thanks to a Honda representative we checked into the Honda suite for the races. Food, beer, and the best seats on the track in the Nextel Tower. A very nice experience, and we had the same accommodations for Saturday's races as well. After over dosing on motorcycle racing we made our way for home on Saturday afternoon, or tried to. The traffic leaving Daytona was a nightmare in both directions. After about an hour and a half of back street cruising we made our way up Route 1 and eventually to I-95. The traffic was still solid in all lanes but at least it was moving. A great trip, good weather, awesome racing action and over 2,400 miles on the board.

Doug you're a baaaaad boy.......
